The Cabinet Office Digital and Technology Team (CO DaTT) serves the users of the Cabinet Office by providing the best possible reliable, appropriate and cost effective digital and technology tools, training and support. The Cabinet Office Digital & Technology Training Team enables staff to become better skilled with technology and the use of digital tools.
We support the Prime Minister and ensure the effective running of government. We are also the corporate headquarters for the government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and we take the lead in certain critical policy areas. Cabinet Office is a ministerial department, supported by 22 agencies and public bodies.
The Cabinet Office Digital and Technology Team (CO DaTT) uses agile thinking and techniques to deliver modern and flexible services that are cost efficient whilst maintaining a high quality service. We support all users across the Cabinet Office and a number of other government departments including Crown Commercial Services (CCS) and the Digital Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
CO DaTT advises, supports and delivers digital transformation for teams and provides assurance against Government Digital Service (GDS) Digital Service Standards. CO DaTT also works closely with business units to understand their needs and their users’ needs in supporting the development of their digital strategy.
The Cabinet Office was the first Government department to lead in a digital transformation. The aim was to have technology at work as good as at home. Everyone on our official platform is offered a PC or laptop along with a mobile phone. No one is fixed to a desk or a location because we also work with G Suite and cloud computing. We can collaborate in real time and hold meetings anytime, anywhere.
Our training portfolio consists of training all of the major applications across G Suite including gmail, google drive, docs, sheets and calendar. We also deliver digital app and bespoke system training including DaTT Induction.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Training Administrator / Trainee Trainer in the Cabinet Office Digital and Technology Training Team (CO DaTT) within the Cabinet Office. We are looking for a Training Administrator / Trainee Trainer to support our training function who has a passion for all things digital.
The Digital and Technology Training Team offers training to the Cabinet Office, as well as colleagues within the Digital Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Crown Commercial Service (CCS).
Our training team enables staff to become better skilled with technology and the use of digital tools. We are enthusiastic about all things digital and keep up to date with the rapid changes in technology by using the latest technology to facilitate our training. We create, design and produce all of our training materials. We also produce tutorial videos, hold live stream events and have our very own app show! We are a forward thinking team. We are looking for an individual who can contribute positively to our vibrant team.
This role requires a quick learner with a can do attitude and a flexible approach in supporting our trainers and promoting our services. Applicants will need evidence that they are able to combine a strong attention to detail with an ability to multitask and work under pressure. You should be able to identify when to handle and resolve issues but have the discernment to refer when the matter impacts on the quality of the service.
An adequate knowledge of the main G Suite applications along with the ability to competently answer general G Suite ‘How do I?’ questions are essential. A keen interest in digital tools and new ways of working are a must. This role will also give the right candidate the room for growth as they will also have the opportunity to develop their skills as a trainee trainer.
Main Tasks Include:
Responsible for booking delegates onto courses and sending them confirmation and pre course training materials.
Maintaining the training queue up to date and notifying delegates of any changes to advertised courses.
Collaborating with the Comms Team within the Cabinet Office and two other government departments.
Handling training enquiries in the shared mailbox, answering and dealing with training Q&A’s and non-standard training requests.
Collaborating and supporting with the Trainers in managing the training schedule.
Updating training courses on the Cabinet Office intranet site. Notifying delegates of any cancellations and adding extra courses to the training schedule on a need basis.
Book suitable rooms for training and ensure they’re properly set up when required for face to face sessions.
Collate data on training activities and results for end of month dashboard.
Identify New Starters and Returnees and invite them to training.
Help with updating the DaTT website.
Delivering some new starter training including DaTT Induction.
Taking part in training events and filming of the DaTT App show.
It’s essential that you have:
You will have a proven track record in using G Suite either at work, school or university for a minimum of a year OR personal use for a minimum of 2 years.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and show a willingness to support the objectives for the training team and enhance its reputation within the Cabinet Office.
Experience of working in a support role for at least 18 months.
Communicate effectively in order to build relationships and maintain relationships with other teams within DaTT as well as key stakeholders, internal and external.
Have excellent written and verbal communications skills with an ability to adapt tone to suit an audience.
Have a flexible, customer-focussed approach and take the initiative to resolve issues.
Demonstrate strong time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
Have strong administrative skills, with attention to detail and be adept at using Google Sheets.
The ability to explain where Cabinet Office and Digital and Technology Team fit into the overarching vision of the Cabinet Office and its relationship with Government Digital Service (GDS) – (Desirable).
Be open to change, iteration and an agile way of working. Have some knowledge of working with working with Project Management tools such as Trello or JIRA – (Desirable).
Awareness of providing distance “virtual” training through various tools such as Google Hangouts – (Desirable).
Understanding of agile ways of working or experience of working within an agile delivery team – (Desirable).

All interviews are 60-90 minutes and will contain behaviour and experience questions. Scored out of 7, they will focus on the elements listed within the job description. For some roles, there will be a technical test that enables the candidate to demonstrate their approach to a hypothetical project.
Please note that this role requires CTC clearance, which would normally require 3 years’ UK residency in the past 3 years. This is not an absolute requirement but supplementary checks may be required where individuals have not lived in the UK for the required period.
